A12 Cuton Lakes

Cuton Lakes is now firmly established as one of Essex's finest day ticket coarse fisheries.

The complex caters for all anglers with three waters that include a match lake that is perfect for a club or group match, specimen lake for the carp angler or the pleasure lake the occasional pleasure angler.

All lakes have purpose built swims for comfortable fishing and have a number of swims suitable for disabled anglers. Anglers with a Disabled photo id badge can park next to their swims

The Match Lake :

This picturesque water covers 3 Acres with depths of 3½ to 6 Foot.
It is ideal for both the dedicated match fisherman or pleasure anglers (providing there is no match booked that day).

Amongst the 40 well spaced purpose built swims there are also a number of swims suitable disabled anglers.
Heavily stocked with over 2000 Carp between 4oz and 4lb plus some even going to over 9lb.
There are also Roach, Tench, Skimmers, Pirch,Rudd.
The water fishes well to a range of methods with many favouring the pole.
The small fish seem to respond well to a spraying of Fish feeder pellets with maggots and castors fished on the hook.The larger fish seem to come to sweet corn, luncheon meat and mini boilies.

The Pleasure Lake :

A 4 Acre well stocked water with depths ranging from 2½ to 11 foot.
It is suited to anglers of all abilties and can be night fished plus some of the 24 swims are close to the car park making it ideal for the elderly or disabled angler.
It's tree lined and over grown margins offer some excellent close range fishing.
Stocks include plenty of tench in the 4lb+ bracket with the largest around 9lb.
The Bream are also growing well in here with the largest just over 12lb plus Perch to over 4lb and Roach to 1½lb.
A couple Carp from the Specimen Lake have also found their way into this water, with plenty of fish in the 3-20 lb bracket.
All methods seem to produce on this lake, trout pellets, sweetcorn, maggots and casters all catch well.

The Specimen Lake :

With a total of 27 pegs this 6 acre water holds a large head of double figure Common and Mirror Carp with the larger fish going well into the upper 20 lb bracket.
Some of the original stock are still present of unknown sizes, but known to include over ten double figure ghosties and commons.
You can also find Pike to over 30 lb, Bream into double figures as well as large Tench and Perch to over 4 lb.
Depths range from 5 to 15 foot and is heavily reeded with a number of features spread throughout.
The Carp respond well to both particle baits and boilies, however bigger catches seem to come from larger beds of boilies, particularly fishmeal based baits.
Trout pellets and maize in quantities have also produced some good catches. Smaller versions of Carp baits have produced some good bream and tench, as has sweetcorn and pelletts.

Rules :

All anglers must be in possession of a valid day ticket.
All anglers are required to show a valid national rod-fishing licence and for night fishing are required to complete a registration form at a cost off £2.00 per year.
No fish are to be removed from the fishery. All large fish have been ID chipped.
All anglers must use a suitable landing net and unhooking mat.
No keep nets. Only nets supplied by the fishery are allowed and are by prior arrangement only Baited tackles must not be left unattended at the swims.
No litter or line to be discarded. Unused bait to be removed from the premises.
No tins or glass bottles allowed. i.e. sweet corn/luncheon meat tins.
Match and Pleasure Lakes Barbless hooks only.
Barbed or Barbless hooks allowed for specimen lake.
No use of fixed "methods" or fixed bolt rigs.
No main line braid (Hook lengths allowed).
No particle baits, i.e., nuts, pulses, seeds. No digging for worm bait.
No child under the age of 16 is allowed to fish without adult supervision / or prior arrangement.
No fires / Barbecues including disposable/Alcohol in moderation, anyone found to be drunk will be asked to leave and my be banned.
No Dogs. Unless by prior arrangement.
No noise nuisance, radios except with headphones.
No unsociable or disruptive behaviour. Abuse towards staff or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
No wading / swimming.
All vehicles must be parked in spaces provided in car parks.
Do not transfer fish from lake to lake.
Pike fishing from October 1st until the last day of March.
Bivvy's are only allowed around Specimen and Pleasure Lakes.
No fishing in restricted areas. (Over head power lines)
No Caravans. No Camper vans allowed. Unless you are a disabled badge holder, ID required.
Please take all your rubbish home, you are responsible for your swim.

Random spot checks will be carried out 24 hours a day by the bailiff.
Any person found not abiding by these rules will be asked to leave and may be banned from the fishery.

Directions :

A12 Cuton Lakes is approximately 14 miles from junction 28 of the M25,
Take Exit 28 off M25 head East on the A12,
After Junction 18 you will pass the Lake to your right.
Exit A12 at Junction 19,
At large service area roundabout take 2nd exit on to A130 Colchester Road.
(To the right of the Royal Mail Building) At the next large roundabout take 1st exit on to B1137 Colchester Road,
At the next small roundabout take 2nd exit i.e. Straight over.
At the next large roundabout take 1st exit B&Q on left in to Cuton Hall Lane,
At the next small roundabout take 1st exit in to Chelmer Village Way.
Go straight over the next Three small roundabouts,
after the third roundabout take the 1st left in to Sandford Mill Road, look for Brown Sign (Sandford Mill) Or (T.W. Sewage treatment works)
Continue along narrow road until you come to two Red signs in front of T. W. Sewage treatment works. That say Caution Speed Ramps, turn Right into Brook End Road before in the direction of Brown and Yellow Sign (Sandford Mill) ignore dead end sign.
Go down Brook End Road.
Follow single track road for about 200m on the left is a galvanized gate with concrete road just before hump back bridge,
You have arrived.
