Izaak Walton Fisheries
Set in 43 acres on the outskirts of Chebsey and close to "Izaak Waltons" cottage, home of the famous angler, and author of the "Complete Angler".
Offering a variety of angling to suit everyone from novice to specimen angler plus the whole fishery has been developed with disabled anglers in mind, allowing Orange Badge holders to drive their vehicles right down to the waterside when the weather permits.
The fishery is made up of four pools, the largest of which is
No4 and is 2.75 acres with a central island.
It has been stocked with
Rudd,Roach,Tench(upto 8lb),Perch,Gudgeon,Chubb,Bream,Crucians,Mirror & Common Carp weighing upto 33lb.
This pool can accommodate a max of 35 anglers on well maintained permanent fishing positions.
Depths range from 4 to 14 feet with the average depth being 8 feet.
The second pool is 3.75 acres and is a mature water
.It has an island to fish off and a sunken island with iris and lollies growing from it.
It is a well stocked pool with all of the above fish upto 28lb.
Maximum depths go to 10 feet and this pool can accommodate upto 43 anglers on permanent pegs.
The third pool has a maximum depth of 7 feetand contains a wide range of coarse fish with a maximum weight of 16lb.
Day tickets allow each angler to fish approximately 500 metres of the River Sow,which flows through the fishery.

No braided line and max size 10 hook
No keep nets, except in matches

Hemp and groundbait only to be used with permission from fishery.

Directions :
M6/J14, take the A5013 for Eccleshall and after Great Bridgeford look out for the first turn on the right where there is a brown tourist sign for Izaak Walton's Cottage.
Take this road and on passing the cottage take the first left turn to Chebsey over the railway bridge.
About half a mile take the first left turn and follow this road around the bends.
About 100 metres is the entrance to the fishery on the left.
Follow the track through the two gates and when you reach the pools you will see the car park on the right.
